Green peppers have a high water content but a low calorie content, making them perfect for people who are trying to lose weight, as long as they are not cooked in lots of oil. And because they contain a lot of fibre, they fill you up quickly and stimulate intestinal transit, perfect if you suffer from constipation. Green peppers have a high potassium content but contain little sodium, so they have a slight diuretic effect, eliminating excess liquid and toxins from the body.

Like all vegetables, they contain very little protein and hardly any fat.
